M2 Motorway Bridge Inspections
Client: Johannesburg Roads Agency/DNMZ International.
Project description: Principal inspection of bridges between the Heidelberg and Crown Interchanges on the M2 Motorway south of Johannesburg. The section of road comprises an elevated highway crossing several city amenities, including industrial zones and taxi ranks.
Scope of work: Principal inspections as above, followed by proposals for remedial action to improve the condition of the bridges and to increase their lifespan. Most of these bridges consist of multi-span continuous post-tensioned box girders with articulation on bearings located between the box girder and piers.
