Road Upgrade: Kansanshi to Kipushi, Zambia
Client: Ivanhoe Mines/R&H Rail.
Project description: Feasibility/preliminary design for the upgrade of 120 km of gravel road between Kansanshi and Kipushi in order to improve local community and public access to the area and to serve as a transport route for a mine operation located just beyond the Kipushi border post in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Scope of work: Detailed visual assessment of the entire section of road, in-situ pavement and materials investigation, hydraulic modelling and analysis, stormwater management, geometric design, lifecycle costing, economic analysis and preliminary design report.
