Client: SANRAL/ V3 Consulting Engineers.

Project description: Professional engineering services as the targeted enterprise to V3 relating to Package 7 of the Wild Coast Toll Highway on National Route N2 Section 21 between Kulumbe Village (km 21.5) and the Mtamvuna River (km 32.8). The contract was awarded on 4 May 2018.

Project description: Detailed assessment on the viability, transportation demand and related aspects for a public transport route between Leandra and Secunda in Mpumalanga.

Blue Hills Residential Development

Client: YoHome.

Project description: Civil and structural design for a new residential development in Blue Hills, Midrand. The development comprises multi-storey apartment blocks with a mixture of 2- and 3-bedroom units and is envisioned as an ergonomic development ideal for small families and young professionals.

N1 Highway Upgrade, Laingsburg

Client: SANRAL/V3 Consulting Engineers.

Project description: Merchelles are the targeted enterprise to V3 Consulting Engineers on the SANRAL N.001-040-2020/2F Road Upgrade Project in the vicinity of Laingsburg in the Western Cape. Central to the country’s strategic road network, this exciting project sees the improvement of the N1 highway to a full dual carriageway standard to accommodate the growth in regional traffic.

Traffic Management Plan for the M2 Highway at Kazerne Bridge

Client: Johannesburg Roads Agency/DNMZ International.

Project description: Major rehabilitation and maintenance works on the access interchanges of the M2, a major motorway running east-west along the southern periphery of the Johannesburg CBD and developed in the 1960s.

Client: Johannesburg Roads Agency/DNMZ International.

Project description: Principal inspection of bridges between the Heidelberg and Crown Interchanges on the M2 Motorway south of Johannesburg. The section of road comprises an elevated highway crossing several city amenities, including industrial zones and taxi ranks.

CCBSA (Coca-Cola) Manufacturing Plant and Infrastructure Upgrade – Polokwane

Client: Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA).

Project description: Lead consultant to upgrading of the Polokwane manufacturing plant and warehouse facilities.

Scope of work: The design of approximately 20 000m2 of warehousing, 15 000m2 of hardstand, concrete and offelstein retaining walls, concrete road pavements, stormwater drainage, fire engineering and electrical engineering.

PWV3 Traffic Study

Client: SANRAL/ROMH.

Project Description: Feasibility study for the development of the PWV3 from the K44 intersection to the R512 intersection (approximately 7.7 km).

Scope of Work: Merchelles was initially appointed by ROHM to undertake an independent traffic study assessing the impact on the R512 of constructing the PWV3 Highway. The study indicated that approximately 78% of traffic could be diverted to the PWV3.

New Lanseria Wastewater Treatment Works: Access Road

Client: Johannesburg Water/Zitholele Consulting Engineers.

Project description: Detail design for the upgrading of an existing gravel road to surfaced road to provide access to the proposed new Lanseria Wastewater Treatment Works. The section of road to be upgraded is 6.9 km in extent.

Road Upgrade: Kansanshi to Kipushi, Zambia

Client: Ivanhoe Mines/R&H Rail.

Project description: Feasibility/preliminary design for the upgrade of 120 km of gravel road between Kansanshi and Kipushi in order to improve local community and public access to the area and to serve as a transport route for a mine operation located just beyond the Kipushi border post in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

N1/N4 Platinum Toll Highway

Client: SANRAL/Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire (BPCC).

Project description: Independent Engineer for the N1 (between Pretoria and Bela Bela, approximately 90 km) and N4 (between the N1 and Skilpadhek border post, Botswana, approximately 290 km).

Project description: The feasibility study and procurement of a preferred solution to operate, maintain, improve, and expand the Gautrain rapid Rail Link System (GRRLS) beyond March 2026.
